چکیده
UNLABELLED Gap-dependent total knee arthroplasty involves applying a tension force to open the joint space. Intuitively, this force is dependent on the degree of joint deformity. AIM The study aims at determining the amount of force and its influence on morphological parameters. MATERIAL AND METHODS In a group of 70 patients in whom total knee arthroplasty was performed ligament tension force was calculated and the influence of various individual morphological parameters was evaluated. RESULTS Statistical analysis showed that tension force is individual, dependent on knee deformation. CONCLUSIONS Ligament tension force cannot be determined preoperatively, it requiring the use of appropriate tensioningdevices.

The Effect of Total Knee Arthroplasty on Hindfoot Alignment in Patients with Severe Genu Varum and Genu Valgum
Background: The maintenance of deformity in the ankle and hindfoot after correction of knee deformity following kneearthroplasty may cause abnormal tension in the knee and patient dissatisfaction. The aim of this study was to determinethe effect of knee arthroplasty on the hindfoot alignment in patients with severe genu varum and valgum. Methods: A total of 84 patients with pri...
متن کاملDoes Cruciate-Retaining Total Knee Arthroplasty Show Better Quadriceps Recovery than Posterior-Stabilized Total Knee Arthroplasty? - Objective Measurement with a Dynamometer in 102 Knees
BACKGROUND Cruciate-retaining (CR) prostheses have been considered to produce more physiologic femoral rollback, provide better proprioception, and result in better quadriceps recovery than posterior-stabilized (PS) prostheses after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). However, there are very few studies demonstrating these benefits in an objective manner. We investigated whether CR-TKA could result ...
متن کاملEvaluation of Distal Femoral Rotational Alignment with Spiral CT Scan before Total Knee Arthroplasty (A Study in Iranian Population)
Background: Evaluating the landmarks for rotation of the distal femur is a challenge for orthopedic surgeons. Although the posterior femoral condyle axis is a good landmark for surgeons, the surgical transepicondylar axis may be a better option with the help of preoperative CT scanning. The purpose of this study was to ascertain relationships among the axes’ guiding distal femur rotational ...
متن کاملBiomechanical Effects of Posterior Condylar Offset and Posterior Tibial Slope on Quadriceps Force and Joint Contact Forces in Posterior-Stabilized Total Knee Arthroplasty
This study aimed to determine the biomechanical effect of the posterior condylar offset (PCO) and posterior tibial slope (PTS) in posterior-stabilized (PS) fixed-bearing total knee arthroplasty (TKA). We developed ±1, ±2, and ±3 mm PCO models in the posterior direction and -3°, 0°, 3°, and 6° PTS models using a previously validated FE model. The influence of changes in the PCO and PTS on the bi...
متن کاملRe: Comparison of mobile-bearing and fixed-bearing total knee arthroplasty: a prospective randomized study.
The purpose of this prospective randomized study was to compare the postoperative recovery and early results of 2 groups of patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty: 107 patients received an established fixed-bearing posterior-stabilized prosthesis (Legacy Posterior Stabilized [LPS]), and 103 patients the meniscal-bearing prosthesis (Meniscal Bearing Knee [MBK]). Surgical procedures were the...
